We’re used to crazy projects in the tech world, but this time a YouTuber has pushed the iPhone 16 Pro to its limits. YouTuber KingSener increased the storage capacity of his new 128GB iPhone 16 Pro to 1TB. However, the method he used to do it is so complicated and risky that we don’t recommend trying it at home.
A YouTuber increased the storage the iPhone 16 Pro’s storage from 128GB to 1TB
The work began by removing two screws from the bottom of the iPhone. The back cover was then softened with anhydrous alcohol to dissolve the adhesive inside. Once the cover was open, the real challenge began: The YouTuber had to remove countless cables and parts to get to the motherboard inside the phone. As he dismantled the parts one by one, he finally reached the NAND chip, the main storage unit.
However, replacing the chip is no easy task. KingSener used a CNC mill to pulverize the existing 128GB NAND chip. Then, it soldered the new 1TB NAND chip into place. Once all that was done, all the pieces were put back together and the iPhone 16 Pro was back up and running with 1TB of storage capacity.
To test whether the upgrade was successful, a read-write test with AnTuTu was performed. The results showed that the crazy experiment actually worked. The data transfer speed of the iPhone with 128GB of storage was 51,398, while the version with the 1TB chip was 81,701.
Of course, Apple doesn’t recommend doing such an upgrade on your own. KingSener may have done it for less than $500, but such projects require serious technical knowledge and tools. If you haven’t mastered soldering and don’t have the courage to interfere with the internal parts of the phone, it’s best to leave this experiment to the experts.
Do you think it makes sense to push the limits of devices with such radical upgrades? Let us know in the comments section below.
